Sharing Our Stories
A facilitated gathering for OT, PT, & SLP to process our pandemic experiences with each other.
Service Description
After the course on Burnout for OTs, a few therapists shared some of there stories...and we realized two things: 1. We healthcare professionals are collectively in a place of beginning to unthaw from the pandemic pain and grief. We are beginning to process our feelings. And there's a lot we were holding in just to get through it. 2. Sharing our stories is a powerful way to process the fear, grief, and overwhelm we experienced. There is healing in sharing and receiving each others' stories. So I wanted to widen the circle (to include OT, PT, SLP therapists and students who were in healthcare during the pandemic) and create a space for us to share our stories. We'll briefly explore some concepts about how emotions impact our bodies. And then we will use some very gentle breath and body movements to help us drop in to those experiences living in our bodies. From there we'll break out into small virtual groups and share with lightly facilitated question prompts. We are not expected to take care of each others' feelings but to witness them with compassion. While there will be no professional mental health support during this session, a list of local and national resources will be offered if you would like some ongoing mental health support.
